Park Ave Classic Six

A young, single Wall Street analyst wanted a bachelor pad for his two-bedroom unit in a new luxury development in Chelsea. The design concept revolved around the color palette of charcoal gray which exudes a sense of refined masculinity. A luxurious Japanese wallpaper was carefully selected to elevate the space. Starting with the blank slate of a new apartment, we enlarged the living room out of the adjacent guest bedroom by opening up the wall between the rooms and installing a frosted-glass sliding partition for privacy when guests stay. This clever idea catered to the client’s desire for versatility and comfort. The more expansive living room better served the client’s everyday living needs.

In the bedroom, a custom headboard brings contemporary style alongside a classic mid-century modern Laurel lamp which perfectly complements the sleek aesthetic. We salvaged a Baughman nightstand, which had seemed beyond repair, and updated it with white lacquer. Sketches by artist Scarlett Bailey (based in New York and Mexico City) lend an air of whimsy and playfulness to the polished scheme.

The results of this were nothing short of exceptional as the apartment’s sale shattered the building’s per-square-foot record. This bachelor’s pad stands as a testament to the successful integration of contemporary style, masculine details, and personalized touches.
