Floor and Furniture Plans
How to save money, time and heartaches…
All too often, we are called by people midway through their project, frustrated that their ideas are not working out well in reality. Inevitably, they do not have a floor plan and furniture plan.
A floor plan tells you the outlines of the room’s walls. A furniture plan tells you the items that will fit and function well in your space.
Floor and furniture plans are fundamental to any good project. Whether the space is large, like the plan showing the outdoor space plan in our photo, or a small studio, great space planning allows us to choose the dimensions and items we need to make sure your house looks great.
Floor plans are like a visual spreadsheet budget. Well-drawn plans tell us what we need, how much we need and what sizes they can be. They will help you avoid costly “this is way too big for our space” moments that we inevitably hear about after furniture has been delivered.
Even if you don’t have access to professional drafting software like AutoCAD, you can do one by hand as we have done here during our initial concept development. You’ll see how useful it is as a tool to ground ideas. Your space on paper will start to tell you what you can and cannot do, almost as if it were engaging you in conversation.
Careful planning now is a key step to a beautiful home later.
